Brent A. Friedman is of counsel to the firm. His primary practice areas include software licensing and technology outsourcing, representing both licensees and licensors of complex software systems in technology transactions and parties in the outsourcing of computer related technology. He is one of a small group of attorneys who concentrate on health information technology, representing hospitals and integrated healthcare delivery networks in licensing and outsourcing transactions. He also has experience in creditor's rights, bankruptcy litigation, and business reorganization. Prior to re-entering private practice, Mr. Friedman was the General Counsel of Eclipsys Corporation (NASDAQ:ECLP), a publicly held company headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, from 2000 to 2005.
Mr. Friedman received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio State University,summa cum laude, in 1981. He received a Juris Doctor degree from Temple University School of Law in 1984.
Mr. Friedman was admitted to practice in Florida in 1992. He is also a member of the New York and Pennsylvania bars and is admitted to practice to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, and the District of Maryland. He is a member of the Bankruptcy Bar Association of the Southern District of Florida and the Miami-Dade County Bar Association.
Mr. Friedman has published Bankruptcy Briefs in Pratt's Journal of Bankruptcy Law in 2007. He was the recipient of the Miami-Dade County Bar Association's 2007 Pro Bono Award, and serves on the County Bar Association's Girls' Advocacy Project.
Mr. Friedman joined the firm in 2007. He was born in Akron, Ohio in 1959.
