Richard E. Brodsky is a partner of the firm. His primary practice areas include complex commercial litigation, securities litigation, enforcement and investigations; securities regulation, and accountant and other professional malpractice. From 1973 to 1981, Mr. Brodsky served as an attorney with the Division of Enforcement of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. He has been in private practice in Miami since 1981.
Mr. Brodsky received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University in 1968, where he was magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He received a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School, cum laude, in 1971.
Mr. Brodsky was admitted to practice in Florida in 1981. He is also admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of the United States, the Eleventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of Florida, the District of Colorado and the Eastern District of Michigan, and the U.S. Tax Court. He is a member of the American Bar Association, and a former Co-Chairman of the Professional Liability Litigation Subcommittee of the ABA’s Section of Litigation.
Mr. Brodsky has written, lectured and taught on securities law, accountant malpractice, and other legal topics. Representative reported cases are SEC v. Orr, 2006 WL 542986, Fed. Sec. L. Rep. P 93,838 (E.D.Mich., Mar. 6, 2006); Boettcher v. IMC Mortg. Co., 871 So.2d 1047 (Fla.2d DCA 2004); Robbins v. Koger Properties, Inc., 116 F.3d 1441 (11th Cir. 1997); Wallace v. Guzman, 687 So.2d 1351 (Fla. 3d DCA 1997); Transportes Aereos Mercantiles Panamericanos, S.A. v. Banco Cafetero, 451 So.2d 932 (Fla. 3d DCA 1984); and SEC v. Mize, 615 F.2d 1046 (5th Cir. 1980).
Since 2006, Mr. Brodsky has been named to the "Florida Super Lawyers" list compiled by Law & Politics magazine, which recognizes Florida's leading lawyers as chosen by their colleagues. He is also included in the 2008 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.
Mr. Brodsky joined the firm in 2008. He was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 1946.
